About
Sue Burne Glass Engraver
I live in Somerset, UK and my work is in a number of galleries. As an elected Craft Member of the Guild of Somerset Craftsmen my work can be seen in the Gallery of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen in Wells, Somerset.
My work is drill engraved using diamond and stone burs.
Nationally The Guild of Glass Engravers has assessed my glass engraving and I was awarded a prestigious Associate Fellowship in 2009. I have exhibited in several national exhibitions of the Guild of Glass Engravers.
Much of my work is commissioned and some is now abroad as well as in the UK. I am inspired by the beautiful countryside around my home and by my love of the sea. Flora and fauna both real and imaginary feature in the designs I create. There are examples of the wildlife of the Somerset Levels and the West Somerset coast but also mythical beasts such as dragons and the Phoenix.
I have also done large scale church commissions.
I love the glass engraved with dragon’s and I love your other pieces. I would like to know if you sale them? And how much they would be? And how to look at all your work. Thank You.
My work is usually done to commission or is on sale in galleries and exhibitions. Pieces on my website are usually ones which have already sold but you can see examples of my current work for sale in the gallery of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen in Wells, Somerset or in Yandles Gallery in Martock, Somerset. In April 2020 I will be exhibiting a variety of pieces at Durlston Castle in Swanage, Dorset. Prices would depend a lot on the quality of the glass used and the amount of engraving involved. It is easier if clients tell me what sort of budget they have to spend. I am pleased you like what I do.
